| PestsI am expecting a child. Will the use of pesticides harm my baby? Will I still see pests after treatment? How will outside treatments affect my plants or pets? If it rains, will outside treatment materials wash away? Is there anything I can do to help prevent pests in my home?
Top | I am expecting a child. Will the use of pesticides harm my baby? | | No known problems exist for pregnant women in relation to the products used by Terminix. You should, however, consult your doctor before services are performed. Your Terminix service professional can provide you with a label and material safety data sheet to review with your doctor. In addition, Terminix offers service options such as exterior-only service, our exclusive wall injection system, and a reduction in service frequency or providing service only to areas where you have seen pests. |
| Top | Will I still see pests after treatment? | | If you see an occasional pest between your regular service visits, keep in mind that the residual action of the treatment should prevent them from establishing an infestation. If you have more than an occasional sighting, however, please call us. We'll be happy to schedule a reservice at no additional cost to you. |
| Top | How will outside treatments affect my plants or pets? | | Exterior applications will not harm your plants, flower beds or shrubs. Since these materials may not be labeled for use on edible plants, however, we cannot directly treat a vegetable garden. If liquids are used to treat your ground or lawn, simply keep your pets off the area until it is dry -- approximately three hours. |
| Top | If it rains, will outside treatment materials wash away? | | No. When a liquid residual product dries after application, the solvents and emulsifiers evaporate, leaving a durable residual that is affected little by rain. Granular products control pests after being moistened by rain or watering. Insect baits, however, are placed in protected areas to keep excess moisture from reducing their effectiveness. |
| Top | Is there anything I can do to help prevent pests in my home? | | Your firewood pile may need to be moved away from the house. There may be cracks around the windows and doors that need to be sealed. Or, you might not be aware that the screen is off your foundation vent which could let mice enter. Making recommended modifications will help prevent new infestations.
